Every venue has a special vibe and feel unto itself. When Route 47 Pub And Grub is on our event schedule, we know we are in for a treat. It boasts a sprawling stage and professional production that has often hosted national acts. That gives us that extra adrenaline when performing there as a Minnesota cover band.

And, it’s our first time there since late 2024 so there was a built-in need and hunger. Two of the players, Beth and Paul, frequent the open mic jams several times a month at this venue so they’ve been able to promote the band and the talent.

But with any venue on any night, it can be a surprise as to how many will show up to support you. We start playing as a band at 8 PM but all the tables were full by 7:15. This is quite a feat because this location is gigantic. Beth did a walk-through and people were even in the booths way in the back that didn’t have a view to the stage. She and other band members welcome people in, get pictures if requested and do their best to make sure everyone feels connected to the show.

The opening notes are performed and the dance floor fills almost immediately. And that gives us extra incentive to go even harder for our fans.

As with every performance, sometimes there are surprises. In this case, it was lead singer Beth stepping off her ego-box (riser) and falling to her knees with a thump. Someone actually caught it on video and you can hear Beth chuckle and get up and comment about how she ripped her leggings. It’s all part of the live music show and something that can make for an interesting night for everyone.

The band felt the surge of energy and the sound man commented that we were one of the few bands that could keep people there until the last note of the last set. We consider it an honor.
