Sugar Buzz Minnesota's Best Cover Band at Route 47

It had been a while since Sugar Buzz had all been together onstage. We played August 12, but even then we had a couple of substitutes filling in. So, to have the entire band together for a show at Route 47 in Fridley on Friday night was a bit of a reunion.

The last time this particular lineup had played together was back at the end of July. That’s a pretty long time in band life. You start wondering: Are we going to remember everything? Are we going to be rusty? Are we going to spend the first set looking at each other like, “Wait…what comes next?”

Apparently not.

From the first song, it felt like we had never been away. Everyone clicked right back into place, and the crowd seemed to notice. People were dancing, singing along, and generally doing exactly what we hope people will do when they come to a Sugar Buzz show.

And then there were the bourbon shots.

Lots of them.

There’s something particularly satisfying about being handed a bourbon shot from someone on the dance floor while you’re trying to remember that you still have to sing the next song. We’ll call that part of the “welcome back” ceremony.

Route 47 is always a fun place for this Minnesota cover band, and this crowd made the night even better. There were plenty of familiar faces, lots of energy, and people who were clearly ready to get out and have some fun. After a long stretch without the full band together, it was exactly the kind of night we needed.

Aside from a few bobbles  on one song toward the end of the evening, it felt nearly perfect. We’re back!
