It’s always a treat when Route 47 Pub & Grub comes up on the event calendar. It’s a huge stage. Paul and Beth are frequenters of their OPEN MIC jam on Thursdays, so it feels like a home away from home. We could tell by the first beat drop that it was going to be a fun show. The spacious bar/restaurant was full. Joe, our intrepid soundman, was deftly handling our complicated footprint, and the dance floor started to see it’s first visitors by the second song.
Surprisingly, there are still quite a few new-to-us first time viewers of Sugar Buzz. Most had heard of us from either social media, a friend or just a Route 47 regular. A couple even commented that they heard Beth at open mic and were intrigued.
Corey and Hailey were new and wanted the world to know they bought Sugar Buzz bucket hats (the message was delivered to the stage so we could call it out).
At least 2 different groups of people requested our version of Billie Eilish’s “BAD GUY” which is a staple in our setlist. As a Minnesota cover band, we like to emulate songs as close to the original as possible, but in this case, we interpret the song in a more danceable rocked-up fashion. Another comment was about the unique variety in our setlist. Staples such as Journey are present of course, but you’ll also find Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Metallica, The Killers, Bee Gees, Rolling Stones, Jane’s Addiction, Steelheart, Nirvana and more. A true “variety” in a “variety band” .
We’re happy with the feedback and commentary. And, we’ll use it next time we add to our setlist and show.
